Problems Solved

KAN can help with a wide range of common, and not so common emotional (and often physical) issues. If the issue you are struggling with is not covered in any of the desciptions below, do please email direct and ask for help and advise. Chances are I will have come across it and will be able to help.

Eating disorders

There are a wide range of different ‘presentations’ of eating disorders with a wide degree of severities, and they make life completely miserable for those who are suffering. Whether your ED is based around bingeing, anorexia, emetophobia, bulimia – they affect every area of your life, and cause both intense emotional distress through heightened anxiety, and worrying physical distress.

KAN supports you through tackling your ED from several angles, in terms of finding tactics to change unhelpful hbaits and behaviours, building you up to develop greater psychological strength and resilience, and digging deeper into the emotional issues beyond the ED.

Weight loss

Successful weight loss is the result of a committed and disciplined approach to changing your lifestyle. It is also an opportunity to tackle issues around self esteem and low self worth, poor thinking styles, and damaging belief systems. Working on weight loss is not just about the weight, but the whole person.

Despair and depressive thoughts

Does it seem strange to say that I really really enjoy working with people who are depressed. To see the scales fall away from the eyes as you realise that your fate and future are completely within your own power and control, and that true happiness comes completely from within, is incredibly gratifying. No magic is required, no fluffy unicorns or spiritual mumbo jumbo – just a set of evidence-based rules to follow and apply on a consistent basis.

Stress, anxiety and overwhelm

Trying to rid your life of stress and anxiety will never work. Changing your mindset around stress and anxiety makes an incredible difference to your ability to deal with it. The better you deal with it, the more they dissipate. We take a completely different approach to dealing with stress, anxiety and overwhelm, which ultimately widens your opportunities, helping you to learn greater happiness.

Trauma, past and present

Whether you are aware of it consciously or subconsciously, your past can have a significant impact on your behaviours, thinking styles and belief systems as an adult. We work within a safe place to gently and gradually unpick learned behaviours, repressed memories and bottled emotions, allowing you the time and space to rebuild more beneficial belief and behaviours.

Improving relationships

‘Other people’ are probably one of the greatest sources of anxiety, worry and frustration. A loving relationship can swing between absolute joy and deepest despair. It can be destructive, controlling, frightening and damaging to everyone involved.

Even the most loving relationships can turn sour when assaulted by an array of bad luck, bad circumstances, distrust, lack of understanding, and a myriad of other reasons.

If you need a relationship to improve, if you need to exit from a bad relationship, if you need to better understand yourself and others, if you need to improve working relationships with those that surround you on a day to day basis, the solution will ALWAYS come first and foremost from yourself.

KAN can work with individually and collectively to clarify the way ahead for those wanting to improve their relationships.

  • Don’t watch TV at least an hour before going to bed
  • Eating bananas (or taking magnesium supplements). And as a last resort….
  • Sleeping pills

I bet you’ve tried at least half a dozen of them – if not more. The fact that you are reading this, means that NONE OF THEM HAVE WORKED! (Except maybe the sleeping pills, but that’s really not a solution, is it?)

Some of them are great ways to help you to relax.

Some of them are plain daft.

And still you lie there at 1-2-3 o’clock in the morning crying into your pillow because all it would take to make you feel better, to make you feel like YOU again, is to get a really good night’s sleep. You’re knackered. You’ve 1001 things to do in the morning. You’re hacked off with everyone and everything. Your relationship with your husband/wife/kids/work colleagues/boss is suffering…….

We deep dive into the real reasons why you can’t sleep – and it’s a lot simpler than you think. We then put together a step by step action plan to help you get to a stage when you sleep like a baby no matter what your circumstances.

Pain management and physical health

Your body is very adept at letting you know when something is wrong. But sometimes the part of the body that hurts, is not always where the problem lies.

Referred pain is caused in one part of the body but felt somewhere else. Sciatica is a common example of this. IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is also a heavily influenced by your emotional state.

If you have had investigations to find an originating cause of pain, and no cause has been found, then working on your emotions and mindset can play a significant part in alleviating physical pain.

The connection between your mind and body is well researched.

Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) looks at the interactions between your central nervous system (CNS) and your immune system. Researchers know that our CNS and immune system can communicate with each other.

The nerves in your brain and spinal cord make up your CNS, while your immune system is made up of organs and cells that defend your body against infection. Both systems produce small molecules and proteins that can act as messengers between the two systems. In your CNS, these messengers include hormones and neurotransmitters. Your immune system, on the other hand, uses proteins called cytokines to communicate with your CNS.

Building emotional strength and resilience, better understanding stress and managing anxiety, will be the start of a productive journey to getting nack to better phsyical health.

Hypnotherapy for childbirth

Having a baby – the most amazing, miraculous and terrifying event that humankind has been doing for millenia. As medecine advanced, much has been done in the name of reducing the pain of childbirth. But do you know what the absolute best analgesic intervention is for a relaxed and painfree (reatively speaking) brith is – that’s right, your mind.

Because the more worried, stressed and anxious you are, the more difficult the whole process will be. And the more relaxed, chilled and Zen like you are, the more relaxed, chilled and Zen like the actual birth will be.

That is why we start our childbirth hypnotherapy sessions from the moment you get pregnant, working with you month on month to create a state so calm and laid back that before you know it, your little one will be in your arms, and you’ll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Childbirth is more than about the few hours in the materniry ward. Childbirth starts with better knowing your own fertile, hormone laden mind that is going to go through some crazy shit in the months leading up to the big day!

Phobias, fears, panic attacks and compulsive behaviours

Whether it is a fear of flying, spiders, outside spaces, being sick, other people… whether you have had this phobia for a few weeks, or many years…. your phobia can be broken down into a few simple processes that, when unpicked, will free you from that fear.

A committed, dogmatic approach to freeing yourself from any fear will open up a world of opportunities to a world you never even know existed.

The first step is in dropping me a line and booking that first consultation.

All sessions can be run either virtually, or in our central Peterborough consulting room. We use a mix of hypnotherapy and coaching to supprt and guide you through to the best possible solution.
